Bedside Cabinets, Chest of Drawers
Having bought a beautiful Meredew chest of drawers from me, Kate then commissioned me to source two Stag bedside tables and a captain’s chest of drawers for her bedroom.
“…Oh my goodness, it looks absolutely stunning!!….”
KATE – Client
CREATING THE DESIGN
During our initial consultation, Kate sent over some pictures that she had found for inspiration. She also knew that she wanted to use Little Greene Wallpaper in Massingberd Blossom – Yellow, and based on that wallpaper Little Greene’s website had suggested some paint colours. Kate ordered a couple of samples so she could see them in her bedroom and decide on a final colour.
In the meantime, I set about sourcing a Stag captains chest, which is a very large (and very heavy!) 8-drawer chest. I already had two Stag side tables in the style Kate was looking for in the workshop.
As Kate didn’t want them too matchy, the bedside tables would have a raw wood base, and gold leaf at the back of the inner cavity to give some interest.
The chest of drawers, however, would be fully painted, with the wallpaper added to the drawer fronts.
THE TRANSFORMATION
As part of my commission service, I kept in constant communication with Kate and sent her pictures of the progress so she could be part of the process and see her bedside tables and chest of drawers come to life.
Once it was all ready, we dropped it off with Kate and got to admire her beautiful new house and the lovely bedroom where the furniture is going to live!
