Vintage 1920s Arabia Finland Bowl, Art Deco Lusterware Fruit Bowl, Marbled Glaze

What an absolutely stunning and rare find! This gorgeous Art Deco bowl was crafted by the renowned Arabia of Finland in the 1920s and features the most mesmerising, marbled lusterware glaze. Its swirling pattern of deep blues and fiery oranges makes it a truly unique and eye-catching piece of ceramic history. It’s a perfect example of early 20th-century Finnish design and a fabulous statement piece for a maximalist or Art Deco-inspired home.

Features:

• Maker & Provenance: A genuine piece from Arabia, Finland, identified by the early “tower” backstamp used between 1917 and 1927.
• Art Deco Design: A classic example from the Art Deco period, showcasing bold colours and fluid, abstract patterns.
• Stunning Glaze: Features a beautiful and iridescent lusterware (or lustreware) finish over a marbled pattern. The bowl is also signed with the artist’s initials “AC”.
• Material: Crafted from high-quality glazed faience (earthenware).

Condition: Good vintage condition for a piece that is around 100 years old. Please note, it has clearly been a well-loved and used item. There is significant wear to the glaze in the centre of the bowl, as is common with functional pieces of this age. There is also some fine, clean crazing on the interior surface. However, the stunning marbled glaze on the wide rim and the entire underside is still vibrant and largely intact. Crucially, there are no chips or cracks. It remains a beautiful and functional decorative bowl.

Styling Ideas:

• A perfect statement centrepiece for a dining table or kitchen island. Fill it with colourful fruits like oranges or lemons to complement the glaze and disguise the internal wear.
• Use it as a stunning catch-all bowl on an entryway console table for keys and post, adding an immediate splash of colour.
