Antique Staffordshire Spaniels Dogs Copper Lustre 1860s Pair

This is a charming pair of classic antique Staffordshire pottery spaniels, dating back to around 1860, during the Victorian era. These “Wally dogs,” as they are sometimes known, feature beautiful copper lustre decoration on a white ground. They have well-defined fur, black muzzles, and golden eyes. These spaniels are a quintessential example of Staffordshire pottery, popular as mantelpiece ornaments during the 19th century. Due to their age and handmade nature, they possess unique character and charm.

Condition:

These antique Staffordshire spaniels are in good antique condition, considering their age. They have typical crazing. One dog has some loss of black paint on the muzzle and an old chip and cracks to the back of its head, which have been sealed and reinforced with resin. The other dog has some historic cracking on the base, also reinforced with resin. As these figurines were handmade, they are not perfect, and this is part of their character and appeal.
