Antique Wicker Carpet Beater Rattan Rug Swatter Vintage Farmhouse Decor

Up for sale is this awesome vintage/antique rug beater, also known as a carpet swatter or paddle. It features a beautiful hand-woven rattan construction and is in good vintage condition. This old-fashioned tool was used to beat dust and dirt out of rugs, a common practice in the late 19th and early 20th centuries before vacuum cleaners became widely available. These items are now becoming increasingly popular as collector’s items and decorative pieces. The beater is made from rattan (the tendrils of a climbing palm) and has a metal fixing to reinforce the handle. Its graphic and pleasing design makes it a cool piece of wall art when hung on a plain background or the back of a door. Given its age (potentially over 100 years old), we would not recommend using it for its original purpose of beating rugs.
